ARTICLE: FlowWest part of “Dream Team” Restoring Cobb Watershed

In the heart of Lake County, a groundbreaking initiative is underway, spearheaded by the Cobb Watershed Education and Restoration Program (Cobb WERP). This innovative project, with partnership with FlowWest and co-founder Anthony Falzone, is forging new community bonds between private landowners and local Tribal Nations to enhance creekside land stewardship. The Program’s core team is composed of community-based organization leaders from the Cobb Area Council, the Seigler Springs Community Redevelopment Association, the Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA), the Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians environmental and cultural departments, and the Redwood Valley Little River Band of Pomo Indians.

Speaking to this program, Anthony stated: “Working on the Cobb Watershed Education and Restoration Program (Cobb WERP) has been both professionally and personally rewarding. Collaborating with Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians, local landowners, and the rest of the Cobb WERP team has both been a learning experience and a great opportunity to enact meaningful land management changes to improve water quality, habitat, and forest management.”

The program’s core team includes nationally-renowned experts who have helped bring millions of dollars of state and federal funds to Lake County through advocacy for improved water quality, good fire, traditional ecological knowledge, and the endangered Clear Lake hitch.
