The Cal-Nevada Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is hosting the 58th Biennial Meeting in Redding, California April 9-12th. The conference will include field trips, social networking opportunities, presentations and posters surrounding the conference theme of “Breaching the Dam: Building Partnerships.”
Ashley Vizek, Erin Cain, and Liz Stebbins will be presenting at the conference in the spring run Chinook juvenile production estimate (SR JPE) symposium titled “A Collaboration to Assess and Forecast Annual Spring-Run Chinook Salmon Abundance in The Sacramento River Basin: Making, Managing, and Modeling Data Across Life Stages, Geographies, and Agency Boundaries.” FlowWest has been working on the SR JPE for the last few years in a data management and modeling support capacity. The symposium brings together the multiple agencies and scientists critical to the SR JPE project. Liz will be presenting her work synthesizing and documenting adult data across Central Valley spring run tributaries and the data’s utility in a novel prespawn mortality Bayesian model. Ashley and Erin will be discussing the human-centric approach to data management supporting the development of open and transparent data, tools, and models. The SR JPE is an exemplary cross-agency and multidisciplinary project that has led to development of resilient partnerships.
We look forward to seeing you in Redding!
